In Q1 2025, the unemployment rate for recent college graduates surged to 5.8%, and 41.2% are underemployed—the highest rates in years. The entry-level job market is being reshaped by automation and AI, leaving too many students with degrees but no clear path forward. This mirrors challenges faced by millennials who entered the workforce during the Great Recession, where underemployment among recent college graduates reached 44.6%, with many taking positions that didn't require a college degree, potentially impacting their long-term earnings and career trajectories.
