The foundation’s flagship program comes to North Carolina-based veterans for the first time.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – FourBlock Foundation, with support from Wells Fargo, will launch its Veteran Career Readiness Program in Charlotte, N.C., on March 13. The program will run for eight weeks. Participating veterans meet once a week at the area’s top companies and complete complimentary online coursework. Registration is open through March 8, 2019.
“We’re thrilled to continue the expansion of our Career Readiness Program with the launch of FourBlock Charlotte,” said FourBlock Executive Director Lauren Schulz-Carnes. “Thanks to the support of Wells Fargo, Charlotte-based veterans and transitioning service members will have access to the professional development, career exploration, and network needed to obtain meaningful, long-term employment.”
Wells Fargo, the official launch sponsor of the Charlotte cohort, will host classes along with other companies during the spring term. Charlotte is one of 17 cities in which FourBlock’s Career Readiness Program will be offered this spring.
“We are impressed with the high-quality resources FourBlock delivers to support our nation’s veterans,” said Jerry Quinn, Wells Fargo Military Affairs Program manager. “Veterans bring valuable skills to the workforce, such as leadership, teamwork and attention to detail. FourBlock’s training helps them leverage these skills and promote their value effectively. We are committed to helping our transitioning veterans find high quality careers. FourBlock is assisting them to do just that.”
FourBlock Charlotte will be taught and managed by Tom Wolfe, who brings 40 years of career development experience to Charlotte-area veterans. Wolfe was a founding partner of Career Development Corporation, one of the first and most-respected firms in the military-to-civilian career transition industry. Prior to his civilian career, Wolfe graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy and served as a surface warfare officer, tactical action officer and admiral’s aide.

“We’re honored to have been selected as one of two 2018 Seal of Distinction recipients,” said FourBlock Executive Director Lauren Schulz-Carnes. “The Endowment shares our mission of helping veterans find high-quality, high-retention employment, and we look forward to growing this exciting new partnership throughout 2019.”
“We are proud to bestow this honor on two best-in-class organizations: Workshops for Warriors and FourBlock,” said Dan Goldenberg, Executive Director of the Call of Duty Endowment. “Through our rigorous vetting, in collaboration with Deloitte, these organizations have proven their abilities in preparing veterans to secure high-quality employment.”
To earn the Seal, FourBlock successfully met the Endowment’s extensive criteria. This included a thorough assessment of the foundation’s number of job placements made, average cost per placement, average starting salary, six-month retention rate, key employee background checks, and “a variety of organizational financial health indicators.”
The Endowment has helped place over 50,000 veterans in high-quality jobs since its inception in 2009. It aims to boost that number to 100,000 by 2024.
